About the Role

Private Equity Associate 4-7PQE | US Firm – London

£220K - £320K

Our client is a leading US law firm with a premier private equity practice, advising sponsors and their portfolio companies on complex domestic and cross-border transactions. The team handles a wide range of deals, including leveraged buyouts, growth equity, and special situations, with transaction values typically ranging from £50-100 million to £1-2 billion. The firm is known for its deep relationships with mid-market and upper mid-market private equity sponsors, with a high volume of repeat business and a significant percentage of London-generated work.

Why Join?

  • Advise on sophisticated, high-value transactions for top-tier private equity sponsors.
  • The firm represents sponsors exclusively, with a strong foothold in the UK, US, France, and Germany, and cross-border work across Spain, Italy, the Nordics, and Asia.
  • A lean team structure with a clear path to partnership. Unlike firms with a bottleneck at the senior associate level, strong performers will have significant upward mobility.
  • The practice has expanded significantly over the past five years and continues to grow, offering associates long-term career stability. Given the stage of the leading partners, meaning there's a very real opportunity to inherit a sizable book of business.
  • Open-door policy, strong mentorship programs (partner and associate mentors rotating annually), and a culture that values client development and business growth.

Ideal Candidate:

  • PQE: 4-7 PQE
  • Experience: Significant private equity M&A experience
  • Ambition & Drive: The firm is seeking someone who wants to grow their own practice in the future and progress to partnership.
  • Qualification: England & Wales qualified
  • Work Allocation: The firm operates a free-market system, allowing associates to take on high-quality work and build their own practice.
